El Corte Inglés is selling the Gatocán Animal Protection Association calendar, which this year featured actress Melania Cruz, who has volunteered her image for this project to benefit the animals at the Gatocan shelter.

The calendar, which represents one of the organization's most important sources of income, can be purchased in the pet department of El Corte Inglés in A Coruña.

The calendar is very important for the shelter, which celebrated its 19th anniversary in April, to continue its intense animal protection activities, both at the shelter, where it houses nearly 250 dogs and cats, and in its awareness-raising efforts and the fight against animal abuse.

APA Gatocan, an organization declared a public utility in 2010, was officially established on April 18, 2006. Its shelter, open since 2008, is home to nearly 250 dogs and cats, whom it cares for until they are adopted. Since their birth, they have helped more than 3,000 animals find families, following a serious adoption protocol that protects their present and future well-being.

Their 17,000 m2 facilities are unique, featuring fenced cattery areas where the cats enjoy semi-freedom, a shelter and feeding area, trees for climbing, and space to run. There are currently four maternity kennels and seven cattery areas, each covering approximately 600 square meters.

The canine area has four maternity kennels, 34 kennels, and six separate yards, each covering more than 1,000 square meters, where the dogs are walked in rotation so they can spend as much time outdoors as possible.
