El Corte Inglés Málaga hosts on Thursday, 2 July at 19:30 hours, the second film screening linked to the exhibition “Pakistan: A Culture to Discover”. This session presents the documentary ** Flying Hands (2024)**, directed and written by Marta Gómez and Paula Iglesias.

In the heart of the Karakorum mountain range in Pakistan, Aniqa Bano gives birth to a deaf daughter, Narjis. Until that moment, she was unaware not only of the rejection and stigma faced by these girls, but even of their existence, as many were kept hidden out of family shame.

Sixteen years later, Narjis reads her mother’s diaries, where she recounts the personal and social obstacles she has had to overcome in her fight to defend the dignity and rights of a community condemned for centuries to live without the possibility of a full life.

Today, Aniqa has built a school and home for deaf people. There, they receive not only education and respect, but also discover a world of possibilities and rights they, too, can aspire to.
