El Corte Inglés Málaga hosts the screening of Act III of San Francisco de Asís (1983), the only opera composed by Olivier Messiaen and one of the most monumental works of the 20th century. The session will take place on Wednesday, 12 August at 6:30 p.m., within the cycle Hablando de Ópera (VII), directed by Lourdes Jiménez Fernández, Doctora en Historia del Arte and cultural manager.

The production features Camilla Tilling, Rod Gilfry, Hubert Delamboye and Tom Randle; stage direction by Pierre Audi; The Hague Philharmonic and the Chorus of Nederlandse Ópera; conducted by Martin Wright. The complete work has a running time of 275 minutes.

This year, the cycle focuses on Saint François d’Assise, a work that moves away from conventional dramatic narrative to offer a profound spiritual meditation on the path to sainthood of San Francisco de Asís. In this session, Paco Berrocal will provide an in‑depth study and analysis of the composer, the 1983 premiere, and the structure of the opera, highlighting its contemplative nature and its innovative musical conception.
