On Monday, 20 July, from 18:30 hours, you can watch the operatic screening “Plácido Domingo es 'Otelo'” at El Corte Inglés Málaga.
A masterpiece by Giuseppe Verdi and a pinnacle of the Italian repertoire, “Otelo” found in Plácido Domingo its finest interpreter throughout the last quarter of the 20th century. Applauded for 80 minutes, a world record, after a performance in Vienna, it was in this celebrated London production that the tenor refined an interpretation publicly praised by Laurence Olivier himself.
Our screening preserves a performance of this production, recorded by the BBC in 1991, featuring Kiri Te Kanawa as a superb Desdemona and Sergei Leiferkus as a subtle Iago, together with the Chorus and Orchestra of the ROH, Covent Garden, conducted by Georg Solti.
The event will be presented by Bartolomé Mesa, graduate in Contemporary History.
