El Corte Inglés Málaga hosts the conference of the cycle “Mujeres Célebres de la Cultura 2026”, dedicated to Anna Ajmátova, one of the essential voices of 20th‑century Russian literature. The conference cycle Mujeres Célebres de la Cultura, organised annually by Fundación Anna O. in collaboration with Ámbito Cultural of El Corte Inglés Málaga, presents a new session dedicated to Anna Ajmátova, considered one of the greatest poets in Russian literature and one of the most moving voices in universal poetry.

The conference will focus on Ajmátova’s life and work, deeply marked by political repression, censorship and the personal tragedies she endured during the Soviet era. As is customary in this cycle, the session will offer a biographical, literary and historical approach, complemented by a reading from a psychoanalytic perspective.

Anna Ajmátova (1889–1966) was one of the leading representatives of the Acmeist movement and a poet whose work has transcended generations thanks to its emotional intensity, extraordinary sensitivity and ability to transform individual suffering into a universal expression. Works such as Réquiem and Poema sin héroe stand among the most significant literary testimonies on pain, memory, loss and resistance against oppression. Despite the persecution she suffered under the Soviet regime —which banned the publication of her writings for years and imprisoned people close to her— Ajmátova never abandoned her commitment to literature, becoming a symbol of dignity and intellectual strength.

The session will also include an audiovisual piece created by Francisco J. Núñez, from the communication department of Fundación Anna O.
