- Date: At june 4
- Schedule: from 19:30 to 21:30
El Corte Inglés Málaga hosts the 5th lecture of the 14th ‘Cita con las Estrellas’ Cycle, titled “What Do We Do in an Andalusian Astronomical Observatory?”, delivered by Ana Guijarro Román, support astronomer at the Calar Alto Observatory (CAHA). The session will take place on Thursday, 4 June at 7:30 p.m., organised by the Sociedad Malagueña de Astronomía.
The talk will focus on the Calar Alto Observatory, the largest astronomical observatory in continental Europe, located in the Sierra de los Filabres (Almería). It will offer a brief introduction to its history, its main telescopes and instruments, and the key role it has played — and continues to play — in international astronomical research.
The lecture will also highlight some of the most relevant scientific discoveries made from Calar Alto and their importance for understanding the Universe, as well as the challenges and future of the observatory within the context of modern astronomy.
The event will be presented by Juan Carlos Aznar López, from the organising committee.
