From June 3 to 30, Ámbito Cultural presents 'Pizarra y tizas', an exhibition by artist Fernando Cobo Gradín, PhD in Biology and professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela, whose scientific and artistic careers converge in a proposal that connects knowledge, memory, and visual creation. The opening will take place on June 3 at 7:30 p.m.

The exhibition pays homage to a pedagogical practice that has now practically disappeared: the use of blackboards and colored chalk in the teaching of Zoology, which, for decades, generated its own visual language based on synthesis, organization, and a careful economy of color. Drawing on this tradition, Cobo Gradín recreates, in ten acrylic paintings on canvas, the final state of blackboards after a lecture, where diagrams, annotations, and traces of erasure are transformed into balanced compositions that combine spontaneous gesture with rigorous formal order.

These works, situated between figuration and abstraction, reflect a visual language deeply connected to scientific observation and the artist's teaching experience. In a context marked by the incorporation of digital technologies in education, the exhibition proposes a reflection on the relationship between thought, gesture, and learning, reaffirming the aesthetic and poetic dimension of knowledge.

In conjunction with World Environment Day and World Oceans Day, the exhibition also underscores the importance of scientific knowledge in understanding and conserving biodiversity.
