The Cultural Area Gallery of El Corte Inglés Santiago de Compostela will host the exhibition "Silences Lived" by Silvia G. Armesto from October 24 to November 8.
In this exhibition, the artist delves into an introspective exploration of silence as a symbolic space, articulating a visual reflection on human presence and its relationship with the environment. She establishes a visual dialectic between the subject and the inhabited space, where the pictorial gesture captures and reinterprets the intimate experience of thought.
The collection, comprised of medium- and large-format works, represents her most recent output and is realized through techniques such as oil, watercolor, pastel, and ink, which allow for a wide range of expressive registers. Armesto deploys a visual narrative centered on light, the human body, and the landscape.
Landscape is a constant in her career, understood not only as a geographical representation but also as an ancestral memory. This exhibition highlights the presence of Os Ancares (Cervantes, Lugo), a territory linked to her maternal roots, which becomes a setting and symbol of identity. The human figures, meanwhile, are integrated into the composition as living entities that dialogue with their surroundings, forming part of her daily life and artistic imagination.
