The Cultural Center at El Corte Inglés Santiago is launching a bilingual (Galician-Spanish) Book Club aimed at promoting reading, building community, and bringing contemporary literature closer to the public. The sessions will be held monthly and will feature the participation of current authors.

The Club will be moderated by historian and popularizer Miguel García-Fernández, @lectureo, known for his work promoting reading both online and offline.

✅ Miguel García-Fernández: Club Moderator and a leading figure in reading promotion

The Book Club will be led by Miguel García-Fernández (As Guístolas, 1988), a historian and researcher at the Padre Sarmiento Institute of Galician Studies (CSIC-Xunta de Galicia), specializing in medieval history and women's history.

In addition to his solid academic background, Miguel stands out as one of the most active reading promoters in Galicia, especially through his Instagram profile @lectureo.

His involvement with the Galician cultural ecosystem includes:

- Member of the board of directors of Gálix – Galician Association for Children's and Young Adult Literature.

• - Promoter of the Rural Galicia Novel Prize of the San Xoán de Río City Council.
• - Member of literary juries such as the Merlín Prize (2024), the Jaime Olmedo Limeses Literary Competition (2025), and the Manuel Lueiro Rey Short Novel Prize (2025). All this experience makes García-Fernández a key moderator for the quality, professionalism, and dynamism of the new Book Club.

The first session will feature author María Solar, who will present her new novel:

• - As malas ideas (Xerais).
• - Las malas ideas (Contraluz).

A story that combines humor, drama, and chaos to reflect on success, roots, and second chances. During the event, Miguel García-Fernández will engage in a dialogue with the author and open the floor to audience participation.
